For my challenge this week, I made a series of three stickers. I have collected sea shells since I was a little girl, so I wanted to recreate some of the shells I found growing up.

I started by sketching some shells and other things that reminded me of the ocean. I then looked through some sketches of shells on Pinterest to look at the detail I could add that would make the shells look more realistic.

After my first draft, I asked for some feedback and was told to make more depth out of the images by playing with stroke width, and adding shapes to draw contrast. I added some shapes in with the scallop shell and it completely changed the look, for the better. I applied these principles to the other two shells, and it made all the images look more intricate. This process of trial and error took me about a week and about 12 hours in total, because I would try a shape and it just would not work or look good. I asked more more advice and was told to go with existing curves and to make the edition in parallel with the foundational shape.

After I applied these changes, I am very happy with the end result. I plan on printing these designs out on sticker paper and seeing how they look in fulfilling their purpose.
